On the occasion of the Puccini Gala, which will be held on 19th of June 2008 at Dar al Assad for Culture and Arts of Damascus, the Italian Institute of Culture is pleased to present an exhibition of artistic textiles produced by the rural women enterprise “Al Wardhan” located in Ain al Tineh (Lattakia).
The enterprise “Al Wardghan” was established through the support of the development Project “Village Business Incubator” (VBI) for the promotion of female entrepreneurship in nine villages of the Lattakia Governorate.
The VBI Project is implemented by the Fund for Integrated Rural Development of Syria (FIRDOS) of the NGO Syria Trust for Development, with the technical assistance of the Italian Association for Women in Development (AIDOS) and is co-funded by the European Union, the International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD), FIRDOS and AIDOS.
The VBI, managed locally by young Syrian specialists, provides an integrated package of business development services including: enterprise management training, technical training, market researches, product development and design, marketing and promotion, business planning, micro finance facilitation.
Since its establishment in 2005, the VBI has contributed to the setting up of 41 enterprises operating in different sectors: handicrafts, services, traditional food products. For more information about the VBI and its supported enterprises: www.vbi-lattakia.org
