On Wednesday, November 28th at 11:00 a.m, in the Al Shamieh Hall of the National Museum of Damascus, the Directorate General of Antiquities and Museums of Syria will receive back, with a ceremony, the Syrian mosaics exposed in Ravenna (Italy), during 2007, in the archaeological exhibition “Mosaics of East. Tesseras on the street of Damascus”.
At the end of the exhibition in Italy, two of the precious Syrian mosaics have been restored by some experts of the Foundation RavennAntica.
The Ceremony for the Restitution of the restored Syrian mosaics, organized by the Italian Institute of Culture in Damascus, by the Directorate General for Antiquities and Museums of Syria, by the Foundation RavennAntica and by the Italian Institute for Foreign Trade, will be held under the High Patronage of H.E. Dr. Riad Na’ssan Agha, Ministry of Culture. H.E. Dr. Francesco Cerulli, Ambassador of Italy in Syria, Dr. Bassam Jamous,General Director of Antiquities and Museums of Syria, H.E. Dr. Umberto Vattani, President of the Italian Institute for Foreign Trade, and Dr. Elsa Signorino, President of the Foundation RavennAntica, will attend the ceremony.
