The Fashination of Orient in Campania: the History of a Century Long Bond Told by the Ceramics

Exhibition about the islamic influences on the ceramics in Campania

Exhibition by Professor Cristina Tonghini - University Ca' Foscari in Venice

The exhibition aims at illustrating the complex relationship between the Region of Campania (Southern Italy) and the East through a long span of time, on the basis of the circulation of Islamic ceramics in the area and of the development of a local production inspired by the artifacts from the Orient. The aims of the exhibition is that of drawing the attention on the consistency of the exchanges at various levels from these two regions of the Mediterranean, Campania and the Levant.
